Before You Order a Black Hills Rider Photo...

We try to compose a good photograph in the camera, but photographers rarely print a photograph exactly as it appears directly from the camera. The images posted in the Black Hills Rider Photo files are posted directly from our cameras.

Therefore, if you order a "digital file," you will receive a high-resolution version of the image you see on the screen. You are free to get prints made, post the image to social media, or, in short, do any non-commercial action with it you like.

If the image is not perfectly exposed and perfectly composed, you are free to adjust the exposure or to crop the image, or to have someone else do that. If you don't have the software or expertise to do that, you should consider ordering a "Standard Print."

When you order a print, we will adjust the color, exposure, and composition--either to your specifications or to our standards. For example... 


This camera image is the result of excessive camera tilt and composition
that results in the bike and people being placed too far to the right.
 

If we were asked to print the image, 
we would correct it approximately like this.
 

This camera image is under-exposed. 
Its composition is also a bit too much to the right.
 

If we were asked to print the image, we would correct it 
like this. We can also correct overexposures, of course.
 

This camera image contains elements the prime

In addition, when we are asked to send a "Standard Print," we add information at the bottom
of the print that describes where and when the photo was shot, along with a Sturgis.com logo and the name of the photographer.

Finally, we realize that the file photos you look at and choose from are too small to ascertain whether or not the photo is motion-blurred or out-of-focus.

If you order a digital image and it is thus marred, we will refund your money. If you order a standard print, we can correct such imperfections to some extent. If we can't get it right, we'll refund your money. We want you to be satisfied and we will do what we can to assure that you are. Thanks.
